#MergerMondays: Wesley Housing + VUMHDC
Two Virginia housing nonprofits are merging in a move that perfectly exemplifies collaboration for strategic growth! 🏠
Wesley Housing, nonprofit housing developer in Alexandria, Virginia, is acquiring Virginia United Methodist Housing Development Corporation (VUMHDC). Nearly doubling Wesley Housing’s portfolio, this merger allows the organizations to leverage existing assets to better serve their communities of families and seniors across Virginia and the greater Washington D.C. area.
Wesley Housing has accumulated over 2,900 housing units since its establishment following the 1974 Urban Consultation. The organization assists the people they serve not only in finding affordable housing in their chosen communities, but also in building up their career and their lives.
Since its founding in 1975, VUMHDC has been working as a sponsor and developer of affordable housing throughout Virginia. VUMHDC President Larry Dickenson and two of VUMHDC’s board members will sit on Wesley Housing’s board of directors from 2025.
Both organizations align on their role as both owners and partners in quality, affordable multi-family apartment communities. The merger has combined their housing profiles, resulting in over 4,300 housing units. Together, their combined resources, assets and market brand will produce a statewide company with lots of new possibilities for growth and expansion.
