#MergerMondays: Immigrant Legal Center + Refugee Empowerment Center
The Center for Immigrant & Refugee Advancement, or CIRA is prepared to serve the entirety of the legal and transitional needs of newcomers from other countries to the United States. Today we’re featuring their work for #MergerMondays to shine a light on the necessary and important work of supporting immigrant and refugee families.
The Immigrant Legal Center and Refugee Empowerment Center of Nebraska merged a couple of years ago and recently announced their new name. Another step towards integrating their mission and their work to provide legal support.
Erik Omar, executive director of the Immigrant Legal Center, wants to assure their clients that their legal and refugee settlement services will remain unchanged and will continue to help them advance their positions in the community.
Before the official merger announcement, the organizations have already been working together under a leadership change that coincided with the largest period of resettlement needs in American history. Together, they resettled nearly 600 newcomers while meeting the high standards of both organizations.
The CIRA and its more than 100 team members are ready to apply their compassion and expertise to ensure that immigrants and refugees are “welcomed, settled and able to build a life of their choosing.”
