#MergerMondays: Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service +Wisconsin Watch

We’ve talked about nonprofit news consolidations in past #MergerMondays - here’s another for the books: the American Journalism Project is rebuilding local news to keep communities informed around the country. This movement strengthens communities not only by providing trustworthy information, but also by connecting neighbors, empowering communities and holding those with power accountable. 📣This cause is so important and requires all hands on-deck from local news organizations.

Two Wisconsin nonprofit news organizations are ready to collab for the cause! 🙏

The Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service has been covering stories that are important to the people who live, work and serve in city neighborhoods since its founding in 2011. Wisconsin Watch is a nonpartisan nonprofit news organization that works to improve the quality and quantity of investigative reporting in Wisconsin. 📇📮These organizations announced they are merging to better serve Wisconsin’s urban communities of color and rural areas, supported by an investment from the American Journalism Project.

The merger will increase the capacities of both organizations to support both of their missions and contribute to their combined mission of making trusted news accessible to all. Seen as a means to enhance, but not alter the organizations, the merger will improve operational efficiency, increase resources and opportunities for employees, potential employees, and the communities the organizations serve. 📈

Check out more about this merger with a very cool cause here! 👏👏👏
