Can nonprofit and for-profit organizations collaborate? Yes! Yes, they can! and they do. Today's #MergerMondays comes to us from the great state of #Michigan: Kinexus Group and HR Collaborative announced that they are joining forces.

According to their joint press release, HR Collaborative’s founder sought out this opportunity as part of her plans to retire. Thoughtful succession planning for the win! The acquiring partner, Kinexus Group started as a small workforce program and has grown to include four subsidiaries: Youth Solutions, Michigan Works!, Market Van Buren, and Manufacturing Growth Alliance. Which just goes to show you that the best collaborators are those with a demonstrated history of collaboration.

This is a great example of what can happen when leaders plan ahead and keep an open mind. As someone who called Michigan home for 15 years, I hope this partnership helps to fuel Michigan’s economic growth. Giving small and medium-sized businesses access to top notch workforce experts feels like a step in the right direction.
