#MergerMondays: Idealist and VolunteerMatch
Collaboration can happen at various points in the nonprofit life cycle.
A change in the leadership for VolunteerMatch, an organization dedicated to connecting nonprofits with volunteers, prompted talk of a merger, opening the door for an opportunity to merge with Idealist, who helps people serve their communities through job, internship and volunteer opportunities.
With a combined history of connecting over 250,000 organizations with over 40 million people who want to get involved with their communities, these leading organizations are combining to scale their impact.
People searching for opportunities to make a difference will still be able to access each organization’s platforms at their respective websites, but the opportunities will be exponentially expanded through their combined networks. Additionally, the talent pool for nonprofits searching for staff and volunteers will be deepened immensely.
Both organizations have long served as essential engines of the nonprofit world. The complementary missions of both VolunteerMatch and Idealist made them prime candidates for a successful merger for which the outcome will be “something far bigger and more successful than the sum of its parts.”
