#MergerMondays: Fund the People + Staffing the Mission

Today's #mergermondays gives me a special excuse to highlight 🔦 the important work of Fund the People and Staffing the Mission. These two organizations announced their merger back in December but I wanted to highlight them because:

1) The nonprofit workforce is valuable and essential 😍

2) Our social and environmental crises are persistent 😒

3) Compensation and benefits can be structured to DRIVE equity and effectiveness 💲

What we too often call "burn out" is not an individual failing on the part of nonprofit staff who didn't draw enough boundaries or should have taken a better paying job - it's a fundamental flaw in the structure and culture of our nonprofit organizations. We've all heard stories of nonprofit staff who are paid so low they are eligible for the services their organization provides. 😢

Organizations like Fund the People and Staffing the Mission are organizing to change that. And given the enormity of the problem they are tackling (deeply entrenched cultural and structural barriers!) merging is a smart tool for scaling their work and their reach. 🤝

I believe that how we structure our organizations can be an extension of the mission, vision, and values we hold as nonprofits.

If you work in a nonprofit, take a minute to learn about this important work - it may benefit you and the people you serve.
