#MergerMondays: Center for the Collaborative Classroom + FluentSeeds

I LOVE children’s books. There’s something about the moral-laden plot and the simplicity of the format that I find easily accessible and sometimes, profound. With privilege and high educational attainment in my family, I took literacy for granted. When I started tutoring at a local community center, I learned about breaking down reading into its simplest form - for some kids, just demonstrating how to turn the pages of a book was revolutionary, let alone reading the words on the page.

This #mergermondays is about Collaborative Classroom and FluentSeeds who announced their merger to better serve “educators and other adults responsible for nurturing children's language, literacy, and social and emotional learning from birth through grade 8.” Read more about what they had to say here and here.

Take some time today to read with a kid in your life. If that’s too much, just do your own reading (preferably in a book not on a phone) in front of kids! Apparently just role modeling being a reader can make all the difference. Happy story time to all the little readers in my life!
